DELAYED POST - Blue Devil’s Love for Candy

Sorry about this delay, but this post is written by Jia Wei on Halloween~

Blue Devils Love for Candy

Legend says that a blue light emits from the windows of Baruch College Campus High School
every midnight. The blue light results from the wandering of the blue devil in the hallways of the school.
Legend also says that the blue devil only exits and wanders outside of the school once a year, which is
on night of Halloween. On that very special night, the blue devil goes treat o’ treating as well, but the
candy he loves is different from the candies we , humans, love, like Kit-Kat, Twix, Skittles, etc. The blue
devil’s favorite one and only candy are kids and teenagers.
Invisible to the human eye, humans can only see the creepy shadow of the blue devil and sense
an intense drop of temperature if happening to be near the blue devil. Anyways, the blue devil looks in
to the eyes of children, and he is able to access a child’s past and sins, because children who are naughty
taste especially delicious. He drags the naughty children to hell and makes chicken noodle soup out of
them; he feeds his pet dog remaining bones. Even if you are a Baruch student, the devil will still make
soup out of you. Happy Halloween!

Assassin's Creed 3

Hello BCCHS students. Assassin's Creed 3 came out last week on Tuesday during Hurricane Sandy if you didn't know. I was lucky enough to be able to pick up a copy of AC3 and I was also able to finish the story. I thought the game was great and the new combat system was improved compared to the old AC games. There is definitely going to be an Assassin's Creed 4 because the ending of AC3 leaves off with a really big cliffhanger.

Medal of Honor Warfighter was released last week so pick up a copy if you haven’t already and wanted to. I've already seen a lot of the multiplayer gameplay and it looks good.
There have also been a lot of rumors lately about new games in development. A promotional poster of Grand Theft Auto V was seen which suggested that the game would be released in spring 2013. There’s no real evidence that proves this but Rockstar said they would release more details in November.
BioWare said that “Mass Effect 4” is also under development and that it will not feature the main character, Shepard. It may not even continue off from where Mass Effect 3 left off.
Also, check the new Black Ops 2 live action trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wIZp_E2CxQ&feature=player_embedded#

YouTube to MP3 Converters: Right or Wrong?

You want to download new songs, but you have no money on your Itunes account.  What do you do? You will probably consider downloading it off the internet.  One of the most common ways that people download music off the internet by using the YouTube to Mp3 converter which is technically not illegal.  It is not illegal because you are not sharing with others and it is only for personal use.  However, Google has been fighting to take down these websites that allow people to use this.  Many people think it is unfair that they are doing this since it is not illegal.  This has led to people signing petitions to protest this.
Recently, I checked to see if any of these websites are still running. They are still running, but for some strange reason I could not download any of the songs on any of the websites.  Was it a glitch on my computer or was it because these sites were restricted from allowing visitors to download these songs?  Is it morally right to download these songs because you are not paying for them to contribute to the artist? Or is it fine to download it because you would just watch it on YouTube anyways? What do you think?

Movie Review: The Grudge

Hi everyone,

I hope you all have been safe and warm this past week! Unfortunately for me, I had a power outage in my area, so I've been without Internet and electricity for about 5 days! My heart goes out to all of you who had to go through that too! I never realized how dependent we were on electricity until it was gone.

Anyways, this post was meant to be submitted during the week of Halloween, but we all know how that went (no electricity, no posting for me). I was going to review a scary movie for the occasion, but even though Halloween's over, I still am, as you can watch scary movies any time.

Alright, it's been a while since I've watched The Grudge (I watched it in 7th grade), so my summary's going to be a bit fuzzy since I don't want to watch it again (it scared my pants off the first time).

*SPOILER ALERT BELOW~*

Summary:
It starts with this quote that says something about how a curse is started every time someone is killed in extreme anger or something like that. Then there is this old lady that lives in this house, and her caretaker, who is this Japanese girl (I think), hears some noise coming from the attic. She then walks into this closet (I think the phone is ringing above it), and when she looks up, a pair of arms reach down and pull the girl, who is now screaming, into the ceiling (to the attic probably). It then fades out to another scene of the police investigating the house. (This paragraph may be horribly inaccurate, so sorry about that.)

The police are looking for the Japanese girl, who has been missing for a few days, and the company that employed her filed a missing persons report on her. I am not exactly sure what the setting is, but it is probably Japan. This police officer chief guy goes into the closet and looks up, seeing a big pitch black hole in the ceiling. When they investigate it, I believe they find dead bodies of people, including the Japanese girl. I don't remember what happens after this, but I do know a new woman has been assigned to be the old lady's caretaker.

This new woman (who is pretty much the main character) goes inside the house to take care of the old lady, who seems to be somewhat mute and senile, and during the night, this scary shadow thing that appears out of nowhere attacks them both, killing the old lady. The police come over again later on, and the woman sets out to find out what happened and why.

The movie also shows how the old lady moved into that house in the first place. Apparently, she comes with her relatives (I think it was her daughter, and her son and his wife) to visit the house first. They decide that the old lady will move into the house. Sometime later, the daughter gets off work, and in the building she works in, she starts to see that there is this ominous force after her. She rushes home, and in her apartment elevator, there is this creepy boy's face every time it passes a floor window. Running into her home, she quickly locks the doors. She then hears her brother's voice outside the door, telling her to let him in. She is relieved to hear his voice, but when she opens the door, there is no one there. She locks the door again and jumps into her bed, hiding under the blankets. However, the ominous force (this creepy lady) grabs her legs from the beneath the blankets, and pulls her down. They disappear into the blanket.

Eventually, the woman (the main character) finds out that this wife and her son was killed in anger by the husband, who later committed suicide. They all died in the house that was mentioned earlier. She discovers that anyone who enters this house is cursed to die very soon after entering it, which explains all the sudden deaths. As she has also entered the house, she must find a way to stop the curse and save herself.

What I liked about it:
This movie lived up to its label of being scary. Then again, The Grudge was the first scary movie I had ever watched in my life, and I watched it when I was 12, so maybe it's not as scary as it seemed back then.  This was pretty much all I liked about the movie.

What I didn't like about it:
Although there's not much I liked about it, there's practically nothing I disliked about it either. The only part I disliked was that it was scary enough to make me afraid of my bathroom, of being alone, and of the dark for like a long time, but most scary movies will do that anyways, so I guess my one dislike doesn't really count.

Overall:
This movie is scary and is probably not meant for the faint of heart, but for those of you looking for a scary movie, you should probably watch this. I will never get over the creepy lady and her death rattle (the sound she makes; it's called a rattle because her neck is broken).

The Crash and Fall Of Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is one of many celebrities from our child-hood that had it all and went from being perfect to a total disaster. I remember her being that innocent girl who never did anything wrong. I remember watching Parent Trap, Get A Clue, Freaky Friday and Herbie Fully-Loaded as a kid, I loved those movies. Then she also was in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Mean Girls one of my all time favorites. Every movie she starred in was fantastic; she never failed at successfully playing a part. She was such a talented amazing actress that really let herself go. It’s so sad that she turned out to be a mess. If only she never started drinking and using drugs, she would be so far up today. Ever since she started on those things her life turned upside down. She went from being on movies to the news. Lindsay has been in and out of rehab, court and prison for the past few years and she also had quite a few DUI’s. She recently had a hit and run incident in Manhattan and now has a court case for that. It’s crazy how much a person can drastically change their life by a mistake, if only she never turned to drugs and alcohol her life would be so different.

X Factor or The Voice

As you all may now, The X Factor and The Voice are both incredibly popular shows that air on the Fox and NBC networks.  They both focus on the same premise in which they are singing contests that have one winner and they win a recording contract.  There have been a lot of shows that have focused on choosing a winner in a talent based contest especially after the success of American Idol which debuted in 2002.  Of course, now, the two major shows are having somewhat of a battle because they both focus on singing.  However, I find them to be much different than each other.
While both are singing contests, The X Factor has a much wider range of vocalists and various acts.  On the other hand, contestants on The Voice feature are within the same age range and it is only soloists.  Also the whole audition process is different.  The X Factor contestants make it through based on their voice, but they also make it through based on their whole package.  On The Voice, contestants made it through solely based on their voices and the judges cannot even see them.  Both shows are similar, but they also very different at the same time.  That is why I find it hard to believe that people constantly compare them with one another because they are much different from one another.  Which one you choose to watch totally depends upon you and your taste.  However, I recommend watching both! :D

Mini ELF Haul

Even though I don’t wear makeup, there are always times where I get the urge to buy a lot of it. So without breaking the bank, I bought EyesLipFace products. EyesLipsFace or ELF is a brand who sells makeup and cosmetics for an affordable price. They are not like Sephora where they have a store; you can only find them online or in department stores. I first found ELF in a department store; there I bought 2 lip glosses, 2 travel mirrors, a liquid foundation brush, a blending eye brush, natural lash kit, and a bronzing brush. I like lip glosses that have a scent to them, but one thing that does bother me is the stickiness of them. The travel mirrors are great, I kept one for myself, and gave the other away. It fits in my wallet perfectly, so I love it! I really love the quality of the liquid foundation brush; it’s so smooth and doesn’t irritate my face. The blending eye brush and bronzing brush, is not for me, when I used them strands would come out, and go in my eye, which is not something anyone would want. I haven’t used the lashes yet, but I know I won’t use the lash glue that came with it, because of the ingredients in it. I’m one of those people who check the ingredients, because a lot of things in makeup are not good for the body. As an extra precaution, check the ingredients before you buy anything.  ELF has 3 different lines, professional, studio, and mineral. The only difference between them is the cost, and sometimes the quality of the products. I loved the ELF stuff I got from the department store so much, so I checked EyesLipFace online too. EyesLipFace always has a deal going on for their online store, so when I went on, it was a 50% sale, I got a 100 piece eye shadow set for $10 and most of them are really pigmented and matte. I’m pleased with all the stuff I got; I encourage you to check ELF out!
